BelOrta | Synergy thanks to co-creation & co-learning.

Unburdening growers

Continuous innovation. That is BelOrta's motto, and it was clear from the beginning. Through co-creation and co-learning, we are launching the "BELORTA Future-Proof" project together, with the main goal: to learn both on the shop floor and from management how technology can best meet the diverse needs of its users.

The BelOrta cooperative is at the service of the growers in order to unburden them to the maximum extent, thereby allowing them to concentrate fully on their primary tasks: growing fruits and vegetables. The term "unburdening" covers an extensive connotation. The most recognizable part of that connotation is unburdening logistics. BelOrta also takes care of everything involved in inspections, standards, tracing, certifications and food safety. Finally, many administrative tasks are taken out of the growers' hands. BelOrta wants to streamline, integrate and simplify processes.

Client profile: BelOrta

BelOrta is a true cooperative at heart - from, for and by growers. More than 1,000 growers and 400 colleagues work closely together with one goal in mind: to offer top quality and taste in fruit and vegetables every day.

The company's 9-member IT team acts as business partners to its users. Together with them, they streamline automation on the way to maximizing the experience of digital convenience.

From suggestion to solution

BelOrta was born out of several mergers and acquisitions. The result? The IT environment that was integrated each time into an existing back-end. As for the front-end and the user experience, a new layer of modernization needs to be applied there as well. This was also evident from an internal survey, under the name BelOrta Future-Proof, which brought no fewer than 324 suggestions (!) to the surface. The ICT team at BelOrta went to work and looked for deployable tools included in their Microsoft subscriptions. Thus, after some detour, they ended up at Power Apps and at ProcessDelight.

Expertise in PowerApps

In recent years, ProcessDelight has thoroughly built up their expertise around the various Microsoft Power Tools. Specifically, this involves developing applications that integrate perfectly into the Office 365 ecosystem or the Teams environment. In short, optimizing recognizable digital workspaces for employees to maintain ease of use. Leave requests, project management and time tracking are a few examples.

In addition, ProcessDelight automates as many processes as possible based on Power Automate. After all, the digital comfort of automated processes allows employees to concentrate on their core tasks.

PowerApps

A beautiful symbiosis

BelOrta already uses Office 365, Azure and Dynamics 365 applications. Therefore, the goal was to use as many applications from these app suites as possible. When contacted by ProcessDelight, BelOrta's IT staff mentioned they were proud to use more than 80% of the rich content from Office 365. The remaining 20%, includes Power Tools, something they were eager to explore with us.

How digital comfort comes about. Automating processes, data and document management through metadata and efficient communication tools. The good thing was that BelOrta had already set such a turnaround in motion: controllers replaced pen and paper with QR codes on tablets so that the data, collected in a Power App, immediately ends up in the right place. In addition, those responsible exchanged their Excel sheets for SharePoint lists from which they can immediately distill and visualize up-to-date information. The provisioning of the various controls were housed in the Power App BEAST(BElOrta All Systems Tools). This allows for faster launch and execution of control routines across multiple domains.

One common goal

The desire for more was not long in coming. BelOrta had a clear vision and way of working in mind. One of mutual input, in which the solutions are optimally tailored to the needs of internal and external users. ProcessDelight completely fits that profile. Via a customized digitalization process, we combine our expertise with the already existing working method and environment.

Co-creation and co-learning

Crucial in the collaboration, schematically shown here, is the consultation between our Digital Comfort Providers and BelOrta's ICT team. On the one hand, our developers have been immersed in Microsoft Power Apps for quite some time; on the other hand, we try to create solutions on a human scale.

Specifically, this results in knowledge exchange, consultation around scenarios/experiences and cooperation around applications. Sometimes ProcessDelight gives the impetus, sometimes it comes from BelOrta. It is in this spirit that co-creating takes place. To date, the collaboration is perceived very positively on both sides.
